Dr. Jermal Sewell

I’m a native Washingtonian now living in P.G. County Maryland. I graduated from Howard D. Woodson Senior High School in Washington, DC. Furthered my education at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Fl and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Westwood College in Arlington, VA in 2015. I received my BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. I attended the Bennett Career Institute and graduated both the Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor programs; I have been licensed since 2001. I received both my Masters (2017) and Doctoral (2021) degrees from the NBCL Institute of Cosmetology. I have owned a barber shop and managed a few salons, but my joy comes from teaching. I have taught Cosmetology at many schools in DC and MD including the Bennett Career Institute. I currently work for the DC Public School System at Garnet-Patterson S.T.A.Y teaching 9th -12th graders during the day and adults in evening. I attend the Antioch Baptist Church of Deanwood, I am over the Young Adult Ministry, director of the Youth Choir and a devout member of the music ministry. I am a single mom of one amazing 16-year-old son, and my favorite quote is “Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
